Wanted DWI South Jersey Man Nabbed After Foot Chase On Route 47, State Police Say

A South Jersey man was intoxicated when he pulled over on Route 47 and ran from officers attempting to arrest him, state police said.

Christian Harris, 42, was stopped for a traffic violation on Route 47 southbound at milepost 16 in Middle Township, Cape May County, at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, state police said in a Friday release.

Harris, of Pittsgrove in Salem County, exited the car and ran from officers, who apprehended him after a brief chase, police said.

A follow-up investigation found that Harris was under the influence and in possession of crack cocaine, police said.

Harris was arrested and charged with eluding, resisting arrest, obstruction, criminal under the influence, possession of crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and DWI.

He was also found to have an active criminal warrant and was being held at Cumberland County Jail.
